In the brutal stabbing case of Vipin murder, also known as Vikki, in Jaipur’s Paldi Meena kachchi basti, the police acted swiftly, arresting seven attackers including the main accused, Mohammad Anas, within 15 hours. While being transported by the police, Anas tried to escape by snatching a police officer’s pistol on Khoh Nagorian Marg, near Jagatpura. During the struggle, the gun went off and Anas sustained a leg injury. Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph confirmed that the history-sheeter Anas was injured in the firing and is currently admitted to SMS Hospital.
Following the incident, 25 individuals, including Anas’s relatives and close associates, were taken in for questioning to trace his whereabouts prior to his arrest.
Massive Public Outrage and Road Blockade
On Monday morning, a large crowd gathered with Vipin’s family outside the Paldi Meena police station around 7 am. By 8:30 am, protesters had moved to the Jaipur-Agra highway, blocking it with five major demands, including justice for the family. Although the road was cleared by 2 pm, demonstrators returned and blocked it again.
Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Rameshwar Singh arrived later in the day with reinforcements and directed the crowd to relocate closer to the police station. The protest continued until the evening, joined by MLA Kailash Verma and other political and social leaders. DCP Tejaswani Gautam confirmed that Anas and Shadab were responsible for the stabbing. Shadab was also injured while trying to flee. Anas, Shadab, Aman, Gulzar, Farman, Bittu, Ilyas, and Rihan have been arrested.
Mob with Weapons, Markets Shut Down
The murder took place barely 150 meters from the police station, sparking intense anger among locals. Residents alleged the area had become a hotspot for drug users and dealers, with no effective police action. Around 9:30 am, a group of 40–50 protestors armed with sticks and rods reached Agra Road, forcibly shutting shops and damaging property. Following this, markets along Agra Road remained closed.
The victim’s family demanded ₹50 lakh in compensation, a government job, a dairy booth, prompt arrests, and safety guarantees. The government agreed to four of these five demands, and later in the evening, a compensation agreement helped bring the protest to an end.
Social Media Post Hinting at Crime
Police revealed that Anas and a woman had posted a photo on social media a day before the murder, showing Anas holding a knife. In the post, he had thanked his sister. The woman, reportedly from Nagaur, is under police verification.
Vipin: The Eldest Brother and Target of Planned Revenge
At Vipin’s residence in Paldi Meena, a grieving scene unfolded as relatives tried to console his mother and sister. Vipin was the eldest among three brothers and had five sisters. According to the family, Anas and his gang lured Vipin out from near his home and then attacked him.
His sister, Machla, ran out upon hearing his screams but by then the assailants had fled. Vipin succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His post-mortem took place on Monday evening after authorities agreed to the family’s demands. The exact number of stab wounds will be confirmed in the post-mortem report.
Long-Standing Dispute Behind the Murder
Police stated that a dispute between Anas and Vipin over a woman dates back a year. Anas, with a criminal history and multiple cases, had been arrested earlier based on complaints from Vipin’s family. Even then, he had attempted to escape and fractured his leg. He was paraded by police and later evicted from a JDA quarter in Paldi Meena. After relocating to Shastri Nagar, he reportedly began plotting his revenge against Vipin.
Vipin, also known as Vikki, was a resident of Paldi Meena in Jaipur. He was brutally stabbed to death near his home by a group of assailants, allegedly led by Mohammad Anas.
