BJP Secures Three Municipal Corporations, One Goes to an Independent
So far, BJP has shown strong performance, winning three municipal corporations, while one has been claimed by an independent candidate.
- Haldwani: BJP’s Gajraj Bisht secured the mayoral position with a margin of 3,894 votes. He received 71,962 votes, while Congress’ Lalit Joshi got 68,068 votes.
- Pithoragarh: BJP’s Kalpana Dewlal continues to maintain her lead in the mayoral race.
- Srinagar: Independent candidate Arti Bhandari made history as the first mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. She defeated BJP’s Asha Upadhyay by 1,639 votes. Arti secured 7,959 votes, while Asha managed 6,320 votes.
- Kotdwar: BJP’s Shailendra Singh Rawat is set to claim the mayoral position. By the fourth round of counting, he was leading Congress candidate Ranjana Rawat by nearly 10,000 votes. Shailendra Rawat has been ahead since the first round of counting.
Shivalik Municipality Re-Elects BJP’s Rajeev Sharma
Rajeev Sharma, the BJP candidate, has been re-elected as chairman of Shivalik Nagar Municipality. He defeated Congress candidate Mahesh Pratap Rana with a margin of 1,958 votes. Rajeev Sharma received 12,157 votes, while Mahesh Pratap got 10,199 votes.
BJP Celebrates Victory in Haldwani
In Haldwani Municipal Corporation, BJP’s Gajraj Bisht emerged victorious. He received 57,045 votes, while Congress candidate Lalit Joshi managed 50,975 votes. The counting has concluded, and BJP supporters have started celebrating the win, though an official announcement is awaited.
